As part of most Organizational Effectiveness projects, a significant information development and analysis process is undertaken. Information is the life-blood of effective decision-making. Without sound information, decisions are guesses at best, gambles at worst. Crow Development provides a variety of Organizational Effectiveness services for clients:
Almost always completed as part of a Strategic Planning engagement, an analysis of how the organization is structured can be useful for many other applications as well. Some of the common elements of this type of analysis include: Environmental Scan An examination of both the external and internal environment of the organization. This can include a complete market analysis that encompasses customers, vendors and competition. Vision and Mission Development or Review The vision for, and the mission of the organization are important factors that drive many of the decisions, particularly at the strategic level, for most organizations. An analysis of the validity and effectiveness of the organization's vision and mission statements provides focus for other activities. SWOT Analysis Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats. This is basis for testing almost any change planing. By examining the SWOT components, the organization can gain a focus on the overall situation before moving into the actual planning activities. Development of Master Strategies These are the major over-reaching strategic statements for the organization. Most organizations have two or three of these. Development of Goals Within each Master Strategy, there are specific goals that need to be achieved in order to accomplish the Strategy. These need to meet the criteria of being Specific, Measurable, Agreed-upon, Realistic, Time-framed (SMART), and should be somewhat sequential, each moving the Strategy ahead, step-by-step. Development of Objectives (Optional) Objectives are contained within the Goals. If additional detail is needed for a particular Goal, Objectives are developed to further clarify or define it. Development of Tactics At the Strategic Planning level, most Tactics are fairly broad. However, they can get quite detailed if desired. Usually the broad Tactics are developed and then small teams of qualified personnel develop the detail as needed to implement. Structural redesign frequently is the outcome of an organizational analysis. We provide direct assistance with the development of both the design of the final outcome and with the development of the process by which that outcome will be achieved. Change Planning, Implementation Design, and Assistance No significant organizational change should be undertaken without a plan of how it will be accomplished and how its effectiveness will be measured. We provide hands-on assistance with these activities as well as providing on-site assistance with implementation. Organizational and Customer Surveys and Interviews As part of virtually every organizational analysis and in most other consulting engagements, Crow Development conducts some level of organizational survey. These surveys, focus groups and individual interviews are used for, among other things:
